Follow Friday!

t’s Follow Friday! Follow My Blog Friday is an awesome weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee’s View!

This weeks question is:
What book(s) have you discovered lately from someone’s book blog?

I have discovered a million books on different blogs.  Since I am so new to blogging and really just starting to step outside of my closed little circle of what I read I am discovering so much.  I really love that everyone is so welcoming.

It’s Friday! Which means that it’s time for the Book Blogger Hop! This is a weekly Hop hosted by Jennifer at Crazy For Books!
This weeks question is:
What book influenced or changed your life? How did it influence/change you?

While this is not a for pleasure book, Fish by Stephen C. Lundin, Ph.D., Harry Paul and John Christensen.  It just can at the right point in my life and career that made me realize that I was not happy with what I was doing and there was a better way to do things.  While it is a bit silly the lessons are so real.  If you work in a wastepit of a job, you might want to check this book out.

OWN premiers Friday

OprahOWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network debuted this week on January 1st. I have to say, I’m very intrigued by this network and am looking forward to watching some of the inspiring, eye-opening, and entertaining scheduled shows. Thanks to both Klout and SheSpeaks, yesterday I had a chance to watch an exclusive sneak peek of Your OWN Show which premieres this Friday, January 7th at 9/8c. Your OWN Show is Oprah’s search for the next big tv star. The show pits ten contestants, who were selected from thousands, against one another in a competition to win their own show on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

Hosts of the show Nancy O’Dell and Carson Kressley guide the hopefuls through a series of tough challenges which test whether they have what it takes to have their own show. The contestants will have to show that they can book interviews, research story ideas, and even complete successful pilot presentation while doing it all well, with finesse, and charm. In each episode, contestants are given advice and judged by well-known hosts including Dr. Phil, Suze Orman, Gayle King, and more.

I was really surprised that I enjoyed this preview as much as I did.  I really got hooked and for sure will check it out to find out what happens on the conclusion of the episode.  I will say that I felt that they really did give honest feedback and help to the contestants, even when they did not listen.  I felt that there was a really diverse group of people selected and their true colors showed right from the beginning.  Some of the women need to get over themselves and realize that it takes a full team who works together to make a television show.

I think that there was a good balance between learning who the contestants are and the actual challenge, along with the feedback.  It moved right along and I never felt myself getting bored with what was going on.  Great personalities all the way around for the most part.

Thank you to Klout and SheSpeaks for providing me with the opportunity to watch the sneak peek. No compensation was received. The opinions are my own.
