A great start to the Oakland County Fair on Friday Night. This is a picture, taken by my husband, of the amazing fireworks they had.
What do you think? What have you been up to this weekend? Fill me in 🙂
With this being the holiday season I got to thinking about all of the things that I am thankful for and what I really enjoy about having this blog. There are many but I think my favorite thing is sharing wonderful books with others. It goes well beyond just my posting here on the blog. I have always been an avid reader and those who know me are aware of it but I don’t know that I ever really suggested books to other or offered my opinions unless someone asked me directly for them. Since I started Lisa’s World of Books, this has started to change. I think that it all started with my mom. Most of my packages arrive at her house and as I was opening them she started to express interest in some of them. This got me to thinking that I am very lucky to get my hands on some of these books and I really should be sharing more that just my reviews with others. I seems that it always take mom to make you think of the most obvious things.
I before I started the blog, I didn’t read many YA books but that changed very quickly once I started. The content and the manner in which YA is written hooked me and has not let me go. This also opened up a whole new group of people to share with — teens. What a concept! I recently have had to opportunity to share many of my YA books with one particular teen and it has been very refreshing to talk about them with her and what she like. I was very excited that she really enjoyed Divergent by Veronica Roth (my favorite book of 2010), Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini. We had an interesting discussion about My Not-So-Still Life by Liz Gallegher, which was a story that she really connected with and I had some trouble with. In talking with her, I realized that it was just being at a different point in life, she could recognize and relate to the character and her need to push to grow up. I think I had just forgotten about it.
I also got an amazing comment this week:
It seems that I can ALWAYS find a new book to add to my TBR on your site!
Could there be a better compliment!?!? Thank you Sierra! I am so glad that I am bring content that you all enjoy! I hope it continues for a long time to come!
Do you have any thoughts on sharing?
