Synopsis

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOUR HUSBAND SUDDENLY WANTED TO REWRITE THE RULES OF YOUR RELATIONSHIP?

My Thoughts

I loved this book!  It was one that I just could not put down.  I very easily connected with Julia and where she was in life.  She has a successful business and is married to a go-getter, Michael.  There were able to escape West Virginia and the pain of having a father who has a gambling problem.  All seems wonderful in their world from the outside looking in, but they are living two different lives.  Julia has given up most of her dreams, including having a family, for Micheal and his business. Life just keeps moving around them until he suffers a sudden heart attack and dies for 4 minutes.  Once revived, Micheal gives up everything he has – all of his millions – yet wants to rekindle his relationship with his wife.  Julia is very upset about losing this life and begins to work out if she can survive on her own.  Now, it seems that the prenuptial agreement they signed will save her.  Michael begs her for just 3 weeks to try to understand his decision.  Along the way, he tells her he is going to die again.
This is a very touching story about what is important in life and what we think is.  I cried numerous times in the story.  The story development is great.  There is just enough mystery to make to you want to sit and read this book in one sitting.  There is great character development – I felt as though I really knew these people and could feel where they were in life.  Ms. Pekkanen take us on an amazing journey and inside look at marriage, heartbreak, and the healing power of love!

My Rating

I highly recommend this book!  I give it 5 stars – it quickly became one of my favorites this year.

“If you could physically put yourself into a book or series…which one would it be and why?”

I think that I would love to be in the Outlander series.  That being said I know that it would be really hard to give up all of the luxuries I have and go back in time to Scotland but it is just an amazing place.  Not to mention this is my all time favorite series!

Q. Inspired by the inane twitter trend of #100FACTSABOUTME, GIVE US FIVE BOOK RELATED SILLY FACTS ABOUT YOU.

1.  I would never write in a book that is just crazy to me but I will dog ear pages and break bindings
2.  Once I find an author I really love, I will go through and read like everything they have written and then get mad at myself for doing it when the style becomes predictable.
3.  My books don’t have “homes”  the shelves in my house are occupied by my husband books.  We are both huge readers.  (He is making me two shelves now though)
4. I don’t read just one genre as a matter of fact I will read just about anything.  I will at least try it.
5.  I fall asleep with a book under my pillow almost every night.

David’s Thoughts

If you’re looking to redo your kitchen anytime soon, I’d recommend reading this book first.  It covers everything from layout to cabinet selection to tearing out old cabinets to having a finished kitchen.  Written by a husband and wife team, he’s a cabinet maker and general contractor and she’s an executive chef, it goes into just as much detail explaining why location of appliances is important as it does which cabinet to install first.  While an experienced contractor may not find anything new in the book, it’s great for a do-it-your-selfer.  I have redone several kitchens and had to learn most of the information in this book the hard way.  It’s easy to understand and filled with pictures showing the step-by-step process as the authors completely redesign their own kitchen.  If you’re worried about the high cost normally involved with a complete kitchen makeover, read this book and you’ll find out it may not be as expensive as you fear.  This book will definitely get a lot of use at my house.
