Best Valentine Gifts for Women

I’ll bet most of the women reading this post have at one time or another received the obligatory

bouquet of flowers for Valentine’s Day. Sure, flowers and chocolates are nice, but they’re kind of

predictable. So, in an effort to answer the age-old question “What do women want?” here’s five

suggestions. If you agree, feel free to forward this post to your sweetie!

1. Lingerie – Please don’t buy me a sexy bra that doesn’t fit properly, or sleepwear in a slinky

material that barely covers my butt. I want something that’s pretty, but as comfortable as the

oversize t-shirt I normally sleep in. Men’s Health.com has the right idea with this pretty nightie.

It’s feminine and sexy, but made of a jersey material that feels like your favorite t-shirt.

2. Books – If you’re reading this, it’s likely because you’re an avid reader. So am I, but I like to pick

out my own reading material, thank you very much. Maybe you find gift cards impersonal, but I

love them because I get to pick what I really want. I would love a gift card to my favorite online

or bricks and mortar bookstore so I can happily browse the stacks. Couple that gift card with a

new ereader, and I would be a happy camper. The Kindle Fire is available for under $50 US.

3. Jewelry – Who doesn’t like a gift of jewelry? I’ve received some very lovely jewelry as gifts over

the years, and as much as I appreciate it, some of it is more my husband’s taste than my own.

Guys, I know you want to surprise her, but how about taking her to the store to pick out her

favorite piece? (I detect a theme here.) But if you’re determined to buy jewelry or a watch

yourself, pay close attention to the things she wears often to get an idea of what she loves.

4. Something sexy – Massage oil, scented candles or lotion make a romantic gift for the couple.

What’s her favorite scent? Make sure the scent is something she loves.

5. Something edible – Dinner out to a favorite restaurant is always a Valentine treat. How about a

gift that keeps on giving? Websites like Shari’s Berries will deliver goodies to your door all

through the year. What’s her favorite treat? Chocolate covered strawberries, hand-dipped

cherries, oh my!

These are just a few ideas for her Valentine’s Day. The Internet is full of suggestions; Gifts.com has a

hundred of them, and AskMen.com has three suggestions for customizable gifts (who wouldn’t love

customized M & Ms?) I’m just saying buy her something you know she wants and likes, and suits her

personality. If it comes from your heart, I’m sure she’ll love whatever you get her, but if you’re really

stuck for ideas, ask her what she wants!

What’s the best, or the worst, Valentine’s Day gift you’ve ever received? How do you feel about gift

cards? Would you rather be surprised with a gift, or get something you actually like?

She invents a work-related excuse and escapes to a friend’s lakeside cottage.
Noah Brownlee has been hiding for two years. But now he’s ready to come home and mend his broken relationship with his brother. When a friend offers the use of his lakeside cottage, Noah arrives in the middle of a blizzard with his English Mastiff, only to find the place is already occupied. About the Author:
When Jana Richards read her first romance novel, she immediately knew two things: she had to commit the stories running through her head to paper, and they had to end with a happily ever after. She also knew she’d found what she was meant to do. Since then she’s never met a romance genre she didn’t like. She writes contemporary romance, romantic suspense, and historical romance set in World War Two, in lengths ranging from short story to full length novel. Just for fun, she throws in generous helpings of humor, and the occasional dash of the paranormal. Her paranormal romantic suspense “Seeing Things” was a 2008 EPPIE finalist.
In her life away from writing, Jana is an accountant/admin assistant, a mother to two grown daughters, and a wife to her husband Warren. She enjoys golf, yoga, movies, concerts, travel and reading, not necessarily in that order. She and her husband live in Western Canada with their Pug/Terrier cross Lou and several unnamed goldfish.
She loves to hear from readers.  Connect online at:
