It’s Time for Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon

Good Morning Everyone!

The day is here for our next 24 hour Readathon.  I will be using one post this one to track all 24 hours along with the mini challenges to go along with them.  I hope you are ready for a fun day!

Opening Meme

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?

I am reading from Oxford, Michigan.  Just a little town about a hour north of Detroit.  It is a going to be a cool fall day here today.  We are looking at a high of 49 degrees with a light drizzle.  Perfect day for reading!

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

I am going to be the first one to admit that I am unprepared as far as what books I am going to be reading today.  I have in the past planned but never followed my plan.  My TBR pile is well crazy so I know I won’t have any trouble finding books and this way I can wing it when my mood changes.
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

I think that there will be some gummy worms and apples with caramel involved with my snacking today.  Again unprepared as the week got away from me.  I don’t get the chance  to read the full 24 hours since my son had a marching band competition which will take us out and while we are out there will be a grocery trip.
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!

Hi!  I am Lisa.  I am 35 years old.  I have two boys ages 13 and 12.  My husband will be doing the readathon with me today.  It is a great day to be lazy and enjoy spending time together with one of our favorite passtimes.  I work for CDK Global where I manage a team of graphic designers who make content and code updates to auto dealer websites.  I love my job and the people I work with!
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

I did!  I just take it in stride.  I took my first couple of readathons super seriously and found that I did not enjoy them as much as when I relax and just have a good time.  This is about reading not a competition for how many books I can read.  I will be cheering along the way was well!  For each hour that I read, I will be spending about 10 minutes of that hour cheering.

Let’s get started!

1. What are you reading right now? She’s So Dead to Us by Kieran Scott
2. How many books have you read so far? 1
3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon? I’m not sure.  We shall see.
4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? Yes, we had to go some things this morning which killed the first hour and a half of the read-a-thon then we had my son’s marching band competition.  I thought I could read there but it was raining so that was out.  Overall, I knew I was facing it so I just let it go and am doing the best I can.

  1. Congradulations on all your cheering. I did not realize how hard it can be sometimes. I don’t want post Good job on every web site. I also agree the more relaxed you are the better.

    1. HI Annna! It can be tough! I tried to look at what they have posted and make it personal, Not possible on every site.

    1. I am doing the same. Cheering for first 10 minutes of each hour but since I had to miss a bunch of hours I dedicated this hour to just cheering!

  2. That’s great that your hubby has joined you. Mine is here, but decided to marathon horror movies instead of reading, though he is a reader. We’re sitting here doing our own things, but having fun doing it. 🙂 Hope you all are having a great time!

    1. Thank you so much Karsyn! It is a great day to spend time together! He is on to racing on the Xbox for now

  3. Awesome that you got to everyone for cheering! I hit most everyone, and am working on my 2nd run thru and the rest now. Hope you had a great time!
