Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted on Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

This week’s Waiting On Wednesday selection is:

Kiss the Dead (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter)Kiss the Dead by Laurell K. Hamilton

Release Date: June 5, 2012

When a fifteen-year-old girl is abducted by vampires, it’s up to U.S. Marshal Anita Blake to find her. And when she does, she’s faced with something she’s never seen before: a terrifyingly ordinary group of people—kids, grandparents, soccer moms—all recently turned and willing to die to avoid serving a master. And where there’s one martyr, there will be more…

But even vampires have monsters that they’re afraid of. And Anita is one of them…

Even though I have been dissappointed in the last few books in the Anita Blake Series, I keep hoping that the series will return to what I loved about it in the beginning.  Here is to hoping.

Blood of the Emperor: The Annals of Drakis: Book Three

Blood of the Emperor by Tracy Hickman

Release Date: July 3, 2012

It appears that an ancient prophecy is about to be fulfilled as the human named Drakis — formerly one of countless warrior-slaves to the elves of the Rhonas Empire — returns from his quest in the North. Flying into the rebel camp with his surviving companions on the backs of the legendary dragons that were once humankind’s most powerful allies, Drakis is hailed as the champion of all the slave races. But it is not a prophecy that drives Drakis in his war against the elves and their emperor. Rather it is his burning desire for revenge against the cruel ruler whom Drakis believes has stolen any chance he has for finding peace. And this hatred will set Drakis and his rebel army on a path that may not only bring down the emperor but Drakis and his entire world as well…

Thoughts: Curious to find out how this story wraps up.

That’s it for us this week, what are you Waiting On?

  2. Nice – count me in on the latest Hickman offering . . . I think this series is next on my traditional fantasy TBR list.

    Here’s my WOW

  3. I love the Anita Blake books and LKH is pretty much an autobuy for me so I too am waiting on that book.

  4. I never started the series by Hamilton because at that point everyone already told me that it goes massively downhill after the first seven or so books. I guess I just don’t want to bother getting involved with a series that went down the tubes. I hope this brings back the glory of the beginning of the series though.

  5. I hadn’t seen the blurb for the Anita Blake book before, it sounds like it could be really interesting.
