Synopsis:

From the national bestselling author of Riding the Night comes an erotic story about love and the games people play.

The last thing event planner Tara Lincoln needs is the jet-set lifestyle of a football pro like Mick Riley; even though their steamy and passionate one-night stand proved that Mick is an all-star-both on the field and in the bedroom.

Tara played the game of love once and lost big, and she doesn’t intend to put herself out there again, especially with a certified heartbreaker. But when Mick sets his mind to win, nothing will stop him. And he has the perfect play in mind to catch this sultry vixen.

My Thoughts:

Holy HOT and steamy!  The Perfect Play totally lived up to its amazing cover.  I have wanted to read this series for a long time but could never remember who the author was when I was actually at the bookstore.  I am so glad I happened across it on an end cap because I loved the writing style of Jaci Burton and the characters in this story!

This was your typical contemporary romance taken to a whole new level.  Mick Riley is the quarterback for a NFL team and Tara Lincoln is an up and coming event planner who is lucky enough to get the business of planning the party for Mick’s team.  After a tough workout, Mick finds the lost Tara near the locker room and sends her off in the correct direction, however he just cannot get her out of his mind.  Lucky for Mick, he seems her at the party and and tries to sweep her offer her feet, there is just something different about her.  After a night of passion, Mick tries to peruse more but Tara keeps putting up roadblocks.  In her mind, how can this man who can have anyone he wants be interested in her, not to mention she need to focus on her teenage son and her business. Not to mention Mick is just perfect.  Little does Tara know that Mick has a few skeletons in this closest and he has not problem with Tara having a son.  It was a fun ride watching them get to know each other and seeing just how their relationship would grow.

The plot line in this book was very strong.  I liked that while Mick seemed so perfect there were things that happened along the way that made him a real man and not quite so perfect and it was not just the biggest thing.  Tara was a bit whiny but I began to understand her better the further the story developed and she gained some confidence and trust in Mick.  I also enjoyed the fact that Tara’s son is not just a bump in the story he play a huge part in the story development.  Okay, now that I have gotten through all of that the sexual tension and chemistry in this story were outstanding and written very strong.  I cannot wait to check out more from Jacki Burton.

  1. I did like this book and some of the plot I guess when I read this one the chemistry just wasn’t there for me as much as it was for you. I also think I expected this read to be really steamy and to me it just wasn’t. Idk I read this when it first came out so my memory is a little off but I do want to read the second book in order to see if the series grows on me. Luckily for me I already have books two and three waiting for me. 🙂

Thanks for the great review I can’t wait to see what you think of the other books.
