The Power of a Love Spell…by Jennifer Probst

A big thank you to Lisa for having me here today at her blog. I’m thrilled to guest post!

When you begin reading my novel, The Marriage Bargain, it opens with my heroine casting a love spell.

Controversial?

Maybe. But then again, it’s pretty hard to meet the perfect man nowadays. Before I met my husband, I kissed a number of frogs and the journey was…challenging. After a while, I was reminded of the famous quote from Charlotte from Sex and the City: “I’ve been dating since I was twelve, where the hell is he?”

Yep. I could relate. So, imagine my surprise when a friend told me about a spell that will cast the perfect man to your door. Make a list of all the qualities you want and need, put one under your mattress, and wait. Sounds a little crazy. Maybe a bit desperate.

Ah, heck, yes I did it.

And thank goodness I did, because it was a wonderful inspiration for my heroine. I added some fun twists of course, the burning fire in the living room, the entity of Earth Mother, and a man showing up that has every quality she DOES NOT have on her list. And so the fun began…

Women for centuries have been coming up with original and engaging ways to meet their soul-mate. Love spells are one. Match makers. Internet. Speed Dating.

Oh, by the way…six months after I did the spell I met my husband. Coincidence?

Maybe.

Maybe not.

In the meantime, I invite you to join Alexa on her journey to meet Mr. Right, her distress when she’s forced to marry Mr. Wrong, and the bumpy road ahead filled with passion, humor and love as Nick is turned into Mr. Right.

As the first in the series from Lori Wilde’s Indulgence line, look for the spell book to re-appear with Maggie’s story. To whet your appetite, here’s a short blurb of The Marriage Bargain:

A marriage in name only…

To save her family home, impulsive bookstore owner, Alexa Maria McKenzie, casts a love spell. But she never planned on conjuring up her best friend’s older brother—the powerful man who once shattered her heart.

Billionaire Nicholas Ryan doesn’t believe in marriage, but in order to inherit his father’s corporation, he needs a wife and needs one fast. When he discovers his sister’s childhood friend is in dire financial straits, he’s offers Alexa a bold proposition.

A marriage in name only with certain rules: Avoid entanglement. Keep things all business. Do not fall in love. The arrangement is only for a year so the rules shouldn’t be that hard to follow, right?

Except fate has a way of upsetting the best-laid plans…

What crazy things have you done to meet Mr. Right?

Any funny dating stories to share or read about?

Drop me a line – I’d love to hear about them!

We will be giving away a copy of The Marriage Bargain to one lucky reader!

  1. I sooo want to read this book!!! I’m buying it if I don’t win it. LOL Loved reading how you came up with the idea for the book. I don’t really have any funny dating stories, although I did agree to marry my husband after knowing him for only one week. He’d just moved back to the states after living in Italy from the age of 10 to 28 and he was on his way to California. He made it as far as PA. where he was staying with friends while he waited for his motorcycle to be shipped over. Then he met me. 😀 He never did make it out to California. LOL We’ll be married 22 years this April. Thanks for offering the Giveaway!! And thanks for hosting, Lisa!

  2. This sounds like such a great read, so excited to get my hands on it. I don’t have any funny dating stories, I’ve never really dated. I met my husband my senior year in highschool and that was 12 years ago 🙂 The only really crazy thing I can say I did to meet my Mr. Right was agreeing to meet him. He was two years older than me and just moved to town and was friends with one of my friends’s boyfriend. I had just gotten out of a relationship and was voicing how I wanted to meet a nice guy for once. My friend decided I just had to meet him and set it up. It was instant sparks and we were engaged one month later

Thanks for the chance to win

  3. This book sounds great and would love to win and read. I love to read and this is a new author for me. I love finding new books and authors to check out.
I think the craziest thing I did to meet Mr Right would have been when I befriended the younger brother of the guy that I liked. It worked, we are still together after 17 years and have 2 wonderful kids. I later found out that the younger brother had a crush on me and thought I was going to be his girlfriend. He was 15 years old and I was 22.
