Has blogging opened up opportunities for you beyond getting free, advance copies of new books? Has it helped you get offers to write or review elsewhere (maybe even for pay)? Have you gotten invites to special events or places you might not have been to otherwise? Today, we’d like you to talk about those opportunities in you own posts, and later this morning, we’ll have a guest post from one of our own Armchair BEA team members, about her freelancing experiences.
At first, I was not going to do this one because I didn’t really know what I was going to write about even though it was right in front of my face every day. 🙂 Isn’t it silly how we forget about things so easily! I don’t use any affiliate programs right now however I have looked into Amazon and a local book store , Schuler’s Books. So I really don’t have a whole lot to say about that but I know that people make some money that way.
But where blogging got me was a link into promotions. I was luckily enough to catch a blog post from Roxanne Rhodes who runs Bewtiching Book Tours who was looking for a paid assistant to help her with the business. As it happens, we live about a hour from each other so she selected me as her assistant and I have been working with her for the last 9 months. I have been able to learn a lot from her with even more in the future. Promotions is a lot of work, but it is fun and I am really enjoying this new look at the book world. It definitively has opened my eyes to some things that I was not aware of before. If you are looking to get more author’s on your blog, please be sure to spot by and check it out.
