Synopsis:

Self-professed nerd Maddie Maloney is an expert on jewels. Jewel thieves are another matter entirely! So when a mysterious Englishman warns her that a thief known as The Chameleon is after the rare pink diamond on display in her aunt’s shop, she tells herself it’s just a joke. Even if she can’t get Mr. Tall, Dark and Handsome out of her mind…

But Fabian Montgomery doesn’t give up easily. He’s everywhere she goes, convinced the thief will strike. And when the diamond does go missing—and Maddie is suspected of stealing it—he whisks her away from the police and together they pursue The Chameleon.

Fabian plunges her into a glamorous world far from her humble workshop and transforms geeky Maddie into a sophisticated siren capable of espionage. Her mission: to seduce The Chameleon and steal back the diamond.

But Fabian isn’t telling her everything—like who he works for, and why he’s so interested in The Chameleon…

My Thoughts:

This was a quick fun read.  Maddie is an expert on jewels but is lacking in the relationship end of her life until a mysterious man pops in the back door of her aunt’s jewelry store and tells her that the jewel that will be going on display will be stolen by The Chameleon.  Maddie blows this man off until the diamond is stolen and she is blamed for the theft.  Fabian sweeps her out before she can be arrested and the two are on the run to stop the Chameleon.  Maddie falls hard for Fabian but something tells her that there is more to the story and cannot understand why he is so interested in The Chameleon and finding him.

Talk about a fast paced book that you don’t want to put down because you just cannot figure out what is happening or where things are going.  The romance in this book is outstanding, while it is a far fetched situation the romance feels real.  I enjoyed the locations and premise behind the story.  I do wish that it has been just a little bit longer, I would like to know what happens after the diamond is found and where things go from that point.  One can hope for more of Maddie and Fabian.

My Rating:

4 Penguin

  • I have this on my Kindle (thanks Netgalley!) but it got put off for other things- now you make me really want to read it! Although the jewel thing is a bit kooky for me? I could use a good fast paced read 😀

  • It is always good when you want more pages to the book. I have never heard of this one before but it does sound very interesting.

I’m glad you enjoyed this one, thanks for the great review. 🙂
